The Moroccan Resilliance initiative, created in 2015, seeks to design, incubate and promote renewal and development projects for vulnerable rural communities through:
- United efforts to improve long-term living conditions and help communities be healthy and autonomous while protecting the environment
- The preservation, renewal and valorisation of vital resources
- Fighting desertification and protecting natural and cultivated biodiversity
- Access to high-quality and local social ties (health, education, housing, etc.)
Since 1970, the region of Agadir has benefitted from tourism development and intensive farming. However, these activities have had extremely negative impacts on rural communities (water scarcity, reduced farmland, rural exodus, etc.). Resilliance’s efforts are focused on training the region’s rural families on sustainable farming practices. The association wants to re-establish a short circuit between producers and urban consumers to create economic opportunities.
In 2017, Solidarity AccorHotels is supporting the implementation of this project by financing part of a micro-irrigation system as well as a portion of the permaculture training costs for six vulnerable families.
