Hope Foundation is an Indian NGO established in 1991, whose mission is to assist in the development of people facing major difficulties through sustainable health, education and vocational training programmes.
In 2012, AccorHotels employees in India and the Hope Foundation worked together to create a training center providing short (4-5 month) courses in the service professions for young people from leper communities in suburban Delhi. The youngsters first attend lectures and subsequently receive practical training to become maintenance workers or assistant cooks.
At the time, Solidarity AccorHotels supported the creation of this training course for 50 underprivileged young people during the first year.
Renewed support year after year!
The NGO has since also developed a sales course allowing young people to find jobs in this growing sector of the Indian economy.
Since 2012, Solidarity AccorHotels and the AccorHotels teams in India support new student classes by contributing to the operating expenses and human resources expenses. In all, this has allowed 230 extremely disadvantaged youngsters to receive professional support during an eight-month period in the sales and hospitality sectors. The strong development of AccorHotels in India, particularly in Delhi, has allowed many of them to undertake their first professional internship.
It has been a delightful experience to see how professionally and sensitively Solidarity Accor analyses and finalizes opportunities for partnerships delicately maintaining the balance between allowing the NGO being partnered to be independent and the need to be in control of what was happening at the field level.
