Wake up Café (WKF), a French association set up in 2014, supports inmates in custody and on their release, through to their employment by partner companies. It offers individual support to each person to help them reintegrate and in groups to prevent repeat offences.
WKF, in partnership with the Cuisine Mode D’Emploi(s) association, specialised in catering training, would like to set up an innovative project at Fleury Mérogis prison: organising “commis chef” training to facilitate the integration of prisoners upon their release after months or years of imprisonment.
Solidarity AccorHotels supports this training, by partly funding mobile kitchen equipment at Fleury Mérogis in the men and women’s quarters of the prison. The other aspect of funding targets WKF’s actions supporting beneficiaries on their release in their path towards employment.
This project makes sense! It gives a second chance to determined and deserving people through recognised training in the catering world. The specificity of this project is that it brings together people and environments that never usually mix!
